Christmas and Week 22

Hello blogging world, it's been a while!
Hope everyone got through the holidays just fine. I know we did!
It sure did come fast this year...and went by fast too!
Our house looks like Santa's sack EXPLODED in each room!

Here's a few pictures from Santa...

Santa left red crepe paper for Wells to bust through as he entered the living room!

The night before Santa came, we gave Wells two things...and he freaked out!!
He was so excited and thankful for everything he received!

White Oakley's (yes, the real ones.)
...and black and lime green Reebok Zig Techs (aren't they ugly!?) lol
He had his little heart set on these for a long time now. :)

I did pretty good myself:) Santa brought me an iPhone 4s!! YAYYYY!!!
I LOVE it, and can't seem to stay off of it. The best part is the "s", the siri.
You talk to it and it talks back! How neat! I'm so nervous that I might drop it or break it. I've been looking at different covers for it. So far, I like these best. Trying to decide on one and its colors...

The second one is Petunia Pickle Bottom, and the cheapest, which is a double plus. But that third one is GORGEOUS! So I'll probably end up ordering that one. You like?

On the subject of baby...I am now 22.5 weeks along!
Emerson is about the size of a papaya...
Our family may be more familiar with the size of a baseball glove...

So my memory has been shot, but it's definitely getting worse. If I'm in the middle of a story and get interrupted, it takes me a while to pick it back up, if at all!

And clumsiness....oh man. In the past week, I have ...
1.  Knocked over 3 glasses of sweet tea
(once onto the carpet and fake snow for Christmas,
next all over a chair and myself,
and lastly on the table during a Rotary meeting)
2.  Stepped into someones tote handle and almost fell to the ground during a meeting
3. Tried to blow out a fire from gas logs, thinking it was a darn candle

Really?? Come on Kendall!

I posted this on Facebook and the response I got was....welcome....you're a mother. lol

I wanted to share a few more pictures from the Holidays...
here's a few from a family get-together

Merry Christmas and Happy 2012:)

Half Way There!

Saturday marked the day that I am HALF WAY THROUGH!!
20 weeks prego! This is going by pretty darn fast! Emerson is now about the size of a cantaloupe!

"Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!"

Here lately, I had been super sensitive. I have cried and gotten my feelings hurt twice in just a few days....for NO good reason! Danny has been very good about it though! I think he knows that's not completely like me to do that over something so minor. lol

And can I just complain for a minute about back pain from the depths of hell!! I mean, are you kidding me?! It is pathetic how bad it gets and how disabled I am when it gets dark outside. I am fine during the day, but at night when I lay down or watch tv....it starts. And it hasn't just started....it's been like this since the very beginning. Anyone else?

I have read that "Pregnancy Brain" is just a myth....oh no it's not! Now I didn't have a great memory to begin with. But now, there is no hope for me! So just bare with me please.

I am so anxious to register for all the awesome things for her!!
I guess I need to wait until a shower is planned:(

In the meantime, I am researching all these great poses for her and for sibling pictures with her and Wells from Abby Funderburk Photography! She's constantly keeping an eye open for different props. I have yet to find something off the wall, out of this world different.....but I'm still working on that!

In other news, we started on our Annual Gingerbread House Sunday! This year is a hard one! It took most of the night to just get the darn house together, much less decorating it!
I guess we'll work on that part next!

Mr. Performer felt the need to dance during the project. lol

...and sing...

These are a Few of My Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things....during the holidays.

1.   Christmas Tree Farm
As a little girl, my family and I would go out of town to a Christmas Tree farm to get our tree. We'd load up our van with ourselves, jackets, and a packed picnic, while Mominy & Dandy, and The Rearden's were right behind us doing the same. We'd take a hayride in our separate directions according to which type of tree we'd pick out, load it on our cars, then go across the street and lay out a picnic by the pond. We'd play football and have us a good 'ol time! What a fun family tradition! Now, we are too broke and trees are too expensive to do all that.

2.   Make a day out of putting the tree up
I love to put up the tree with the whole family! I enjoy listening to Christmas music while putting all the ornaments and lights on the tree. Then afterwards, decorate a gingerbread house and make cookies together! Usually around this time of year, there are movies after movies of awesome Christmas stories, like The Grinch, The Polar Express, The Christmas Shoes, etc. In our family (passed down from the Miles's) I like to give my husband and children a special ornament that represents that past year. Hopefully, this day will happen soon, since there's only 2 weeks left before Christmas! lol

3.   Family Get-Together's
On Christmas Eve, we go to Danny's parent's house to eat and exchange presents, then to my parent's house to do the same with my Dad's side. On Christmas morning, we go to Faith Home to eat and do presents with Danny's family then we head to Mominy & Dandy's house to eat AGAIN and do presents with my Mom's side. AND THEN we go my other grandparent's house that night to eat again. NO WONDER we gain so much!!!!!! But I do love spending time with all of my family. It doesn't happen that often.

4.   SANTA comes!!!!!
Yes, Santa! Santa brought presents to me until I was married! I am not joking! Man, do I miss that! My brother still gets it, so I love to go over to their house to see what all he got. Before I got hitched, my brother and I would wake each other up, then go pester our folks until they decided to "raise from the dead!" Once they were up, they'd go in the den, turn the fire on, get the coffee started and then would call us in. This routine went on until 2 years ago folks! haha And lucky Jackson stills gets to do it! Now I get to do it for Wells and next year, two kids!

5.   Christmas Morning Food
One of the things I look forward to during "Santa Time" is the food Mama fixes. Once we see what we got, we call our grandparents and Uncle David over to join the fun! Mama fixes...
  • Sausage Balls....my FAV!
  • Ambrosia
  • Big 'ol Cinnamon Rolls
  • Coffee
  • and my favorite, Hot Apple Cider

Thanks Mama and Daddy for all of the fun family traditions!
....and these are just a few of my favorite things!

The End of an Era

Last Saturday marked the end of an era in the Miles family.
It was the last football game that Jackson will ever play for Greenwood High School, and maybe ever in his life if he doesn't play for college! How sad! It was the state championship game played at Clemson! And boy was it an exciting game!

Honestly, I was thinking it was going to be a blow out (in favor of Goose Creek). I know, that's terrible of me to think that but the way everyone was talking them up and to see their record, wow.
They are good.

Well let me just tell you something--we showed them WHAT'S UP! No, we didn't bring home the rings or the "W", but we sure did deserve it! Our boys played their hardest and it showed! We scored first, from then on out, it was 7-7... 7-14... 14-14... 14-21... 21-21.
Then, they blocked a punt and got a safety. UGHHHHHHH!!!
So blah blah blah we lost. But not without a fight!
SO so so so PROUD of each and every Eagle. What an awesome season. Period.
Here's some pictures from Saturday.

GOOOO EAGLES!!!!!

In other news, Emerson Adele is about the size of a mango!

"Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature."
