Week 35

Week 33
Emerson's about the size of a Honeydew.
"She weighs about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches.
And she may grow up to a full inch this week -- amazing!"

  • She's keeping her eyes open while awake.

  • She's also starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing.

  • Her bones are hardening.

  • And she is going through (more) major brain development -- that's one smart baby!

  •                                                                                                                                   -The Bump

    Week 34
Emerson is about the size of a Durian Fruit.
"At less than two months to go, she weighs in at about 4.2 pounds to 5.8 pounds
and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches."

  • She's recognizing and reacting to simple songs, if you're singing them.

  •       (If you're not, start! She may find them soothing after birth.)

  • She's also urinating about a pint a day.

  •                                                                                                                            -The Bump

    Week 35
Emerson is about the size of a Butternut Squash.
"She's about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. From here on out, she won't get much longer, but she's plumping up. She's now about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds, and she'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth."

  • Now, her hearing is fully developed, and she responds best to high-pitched noises.

  • If it's a boy, his testes have probably fully descended.

  •       (But she's not, so obviously this doesn't apply!)

                                                                                                                           -The Bump

Three weeks of "size" updates all into one blog post. That's exactly how fast these past few weeks have flown by! I was anxious to hit the 30 week mark, now my phone just updated me and reminded me that I was 35 weeks today. Time flies when you're......BUSY!

So far, I have had WONDERFUL friends host three different baby showers. I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. Emerson has racked up on so many clothes, blankets, and anything else you can think of. Now we're working on finding the room to put all of her things. We're limited on storage in our house, so we're having to get creative.

This week, we rearranged Wells's room to fit him and her in there. We switched beds, took out a piece, put the crib and changing table in, put a piece in our room for Emerson's things, decorated Wells's walls, nailed, moved, sweated, ached, and FINALLY, we are almost finished with his side.
Her side....well she has the crib bedding on and we have a few ideas on what will go on the walls. We'll hopefully finish the whole room within two weeks. That's the goal.

After some thought, Wells is satisfied with his room side. THANK YOU JESUS!
I was so worried about his reaction. What 10 year old little boy wants to share his room with his baby sister? Not many. It took a while for him to get used to the idea. After a few weeks of talking about it, last night seeing it for the first time, I thought we might be in trouble.
I prayed and prayed and prayed for a good outcome, and last night, he was like a different child.
I STRONGLY believe God had A LOT to do with his attitude.
He was in the best mood, respectful, polite...
...yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, please, thank you...
He talked about Emerson so sweetly. She is so very lucky to have a big brother like him.
I see how he treats Mia, his other sister, and I can't wait for Emerson to have someone to look up to like Mia does.

Once we get finished with the room, I'll post pictures.

On my side of things, activities are getting harder and harder to complete.
For example walking. Haha No, I'm kidding. Actually, it's more like, wobbling.
But apparently, that's one of the latest dance moves, so I'm good there.

Turning from one side to the other in bed. It takes mental preparation and lots of strength to do.
    Who would-a thought?!

The saying is more meaningful now-a-days.
"When you gotta go, you gotta go!" Even the thought of "pottying" makes me almost want to wet my pants! Always know where the restrooms are! lol

Oh, my feet. I forgot to mention.
From the first day that it was hot in SC, you know, that first day and it never cooled off here! My feet have blown up so badly from that day, on. I truly have "cankles." You know when you get a pedicure and they put the things between your toes to help allow them to dry? That's how my feet feel, except surrounded by fluid. Lovely.

I still have lower back pain, but that's never eased up.

It's hot, everywhere, all the time. I'm just thankful that I'm not pregnant throughout the summer!

Hello Heartburn. Zantac is my new BFF.

    I heart chocolate milk. Mmm:)
The saltiness craving has pretty much gone away.

"You look ripe!" says the cashier at Hobby Lobby.
"Oh. thank you." says the hot, waddling, ripe pregnant me.
Folks. They always have the correct words.

    MILK-a-WHAT?

This video is a great beginning to this post!

    MILKaholic.
The theme to my first baby shower!
How cute! I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this!

Last Saturday, two very dear friends hosted the most fabulous baby shower EVER!
    Abby Funderburk & Jamey Thomas.
It was held at Jamey's (perfect) little home on Janeway in Greenwood.

I knew every single detail would be completely perfect.
    I was right.
They dotted every i and crossed all their t's, that's for sure.

This shower is what I envision for each event I do, yet somehow, never turns out this perfect.

    You just see for yourself...

The mantle in the living room...
...complete with 5 of these awesome appliqued onesie's...

     ...a chalkboard centerpiece...

     ...books from the hostesses...
    ...perfect.

    Next, the dining room table...

     ...filled with amazing desserts...

...I mean, are you kidding me!?...

    Then came the drinks...
...we're Southerners, Sweet Tea and Lemonade are a MUST...
...look at these adorable milk filled glasses with the little cookie on each straw!
They also had chocolate milk, hmmm my FAV!

Then came the coffee table in the living room...

...a sweet book about COOKIES that each shower guest signed...

...note cards that each guest wrote a note to Emerson and/or her parents
on that cannot be opened until she is born...

...and a centerpiece of the most adorable face you've ever seen!

Walking in, guests were greeted by this sight...

...this door piece was made from the cereal, Cookie Crisps!

When guests left, they were encouraged to take home the coolest favor...
...a mason jar filled with mini Cookie Crisps covered with cow fabric,
with a spoon and label reading "I Love Milk" attached...

    Really?

    AH MAZ ing.

Here's a few of the things Emerson received...just a few!

a shopping cart/ high chair cover

CUTE outfit with an "E" on the shirt

pink and white damask print 2 piece outfit--to DIE for!
elephant ears to support her head and neck when riding in the car

Isn't this the sweetest bunny you've ever seen!
    Perfect with her monogram :)

    Wow.
    What a shower!
I am so thankful for the best friends in the entire world,
the ones that threw the shower, the ones that came, and everyone in between!
    I am so blessed!

One hostess and I, Jamey Thomas

Another hostess and I, Abby Funderburk
(didn't get a picture with her at the shower)

The Best Sight I've Ever Seen

I had waited what seemed like forever for last night.
The week crept by very slowly, but yes, it finally came.

Danny and I, our parents and my brother went to Greenville to see Emerson!
I was so very nervous and anxious.
We. saw. what. she. looks. like....

    HOW AMAZING!
It was like looking through a hole into her world.
I hated for the session to be over, but after 20 or so minutes, it was.

We went to Baby Impressions in Greenville, SC and did their 3D/4D ultrasound.
After the session, she gave us a DVD of the session, several photos, and a disc of photos that we can print. My mother and father in law bought us a sweet bear. When we pressed the heart of the bear, we heard Emerson's actual heartbeat. The ultrasound tech had recorded it and placed it in the bear. What a wonderful sound! Danny chose a pink bear vs. a tan and brown bear. She's soft and sweet:)

We had a great experience during the ultrasound!
She slept the whole time, but of course she was as sweet as she can be!

    Who does she look like?
Her Daddy. Period. She has the most sweet, plump lips, the cutest wide nose you've ever seen,
and chunky little cheeks to die for! It's a good thing I have a good looking husband! And
he.....well he could NOT be any happier about the outcome!

    What was she doing?
Obviously her comfort blanket is her wrist. She held her arm up near her face the entire time,
sucking/touching her wrist to her mouth. This is how she slept, and seemed to be very content.

Anything interesting happen during the ultrasound?
Well, she was sleeping and was happy. We wanted her to wake up and do something since we
were watching. Well, she did something alright! We woke her up, she moved her arm away
from her face, and she slowly stuck her sweet little middle finger up. Wow.
Mama said, "She didn't mean to!" lol

    My personal favorite part:
During the session, she yawned! It was the sweetest thing ever!! She smiled:)
One time, she even looked like she was talking. She was moving her mouth just like she was
trying to have a conversation with us.
Seeing our little girl, what she looks like, her traits & habits. IS IT APRIL YET??

If you are expecting, start saving, because IT IS WORTH IT!!!
I want to go back today and tomorrow and the next day to do it all over again.

Only a handful of weeks left. I cannot wait until April. I pray March FLIES by!

But until then, I have FOUR showers go attend! I am SO SO SO excited!
The first one is tomorrow at Jamey Thomas's house, hosted by Jamey Thomas and Abby Funderburk.
The theme is, get this....I Love Milk, Milkaholic.
    I LOVE IT!!

More updates and pictures will be posted tomorrow!

    It's Gettin' Hot in Here!

Is it hot in here, or is it just me?

I do believe the switch has officially flipped.
I feel like I am sitting, walking, working, talking, chewing, sleeping, cooking, etc....in a sauna!

Throughout the whole winter, I was not only cold, I was freezing!
    Well not. any. more.

It's hot in here, and I apologize to anyone I make freeze,
cause it doesn't look like it's getting any better.

The countdown is ON! 8 weeks to go!
That is, 8 weeks until I hit the 40 week mark.
I have a feeling that I won't last that long.

The date that sticks out in my mind is April 17th. I have no idea why.
My mom's birthday is the 20th, so I hope she doesn't come then. I'd feel bad "taking" her day!

This week, I am into my 32nd week. Emerson should be about the size of a Squash.

"At 32 weeks, baby’s birth still seems kind of far away, but you and baby are physically ready in a lot of ways, just in case there’s an early arrival. Baby may have turned so she’s in the head-down position by now, poised for her trip down the birth canal. And you may have noticed your nipples looking darker. That’s so a preemie can see them for breastfeeding -- isn't your body so amazing? Intensity might be building in the symptoms department, as heartburn and contractions intensify around week 32. But we’re guessing you’re so excited about baby’s impending arrival, they’re not slowing you down much."

Still growing, your baby weighs in at about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds and measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches.

  • She's getting ready for her descent -- she's likely in the head-down position now.

  • And she's probably feeling even more cramped.

  •                                                                                        -The Bump

    Very ready (physically), yes.
    Lots of heartburn, yes.
    Wobble wobble, yes.
    Back pain, yes.
    Labored breathing, yes
Ready to meet Emerson Adele, YESSSSS!!!

I can hardly wait to meet her. More than ever now.
This Thursday, we'll be one step closer to seeing her.
In just 4 days, we'll head to Greenville to get the 3D/4D ultrasound.
WE ARE SO EXCITED!! Especially the grandparents!

Don't you just love it when people look at you and say,
    "Twins??!!"
    or
"My goodness, you won't last 8 MORE weeks!"
    or
"My, my, you are BIG for 7 months."
    or
    "You must be ALL baby."

Or as my sweet husband says, "She's gonna come out walking!"

Gee, thanks. Now I feel better.

Well thank you very much, my child is growing perfectly, she's a good size, and I may not last 8 MORE weeks, but it's in God's hands, not yours:)

    How I feel sometimes. haha

I have had so much fun feeling and watching her kick.
    Yes, watching.
It is now very visible now to see her move.
I was standing the other day talking to a friend, and she said, "OMG! Your belly just jumped!"
She's a clever little thing, though. If you talk about her moving or talk about feeling her move, she'll stop. Every time she starts kicking at home, I tell Danny and he tries to feel her.
    Nope.
She stops, just as he puts his hand on her.
During the ultrasounds that we've had, she'll put her hands in front of her face like, "You can't see me, you can't see me!"
She must know I like surprises and she wants to surprise me when she makes her arrival.
I PRAY that she's in a good position Thursday for the 3D, but I seriously doubt it.
I better quick talking about it, she'll know!
