Week 8

As of last Friday, I am 8 weeks along! So Baby Gunter is the size of ...
...a Raspberry!
Baby Gunter is growing like crazy, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though I can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

I'm getting anxious to have an ultrasound again. Our next appointment will be October 12 (only two more weeks!).
Until then, I am trying to keep the stress level down. Abbeville is having their Piedmont Blues and Hash Bash the weekend before that--it's this big BBQ and hash competition that the chamber is over. Have mercy, get me through this alive! This Thursday, I'll be on TV to promote the event!! Scary! I'll be on Your Carolina Jack and Kimberly Show out of Greenville.
I'll be wearing Melon Maternity! So watch for it!

As for other news, My "little" brother Jackson was honored last night as Player of the Week for Week 3 at the Touchdown Club!! GOO JACKIE!!!

Don't TOUCH Me!

This past week I have been swamped with things for the Chamber, so I apologize for not getting in an earlier post. And honestly, I haven't had a whole lot to talk about.
                                               Pregnancy...the same. Still totally exhausted.
Hunger.....most definitely, then I get full very quickly.
I still haven't been sick, so I guess it's not coming. (Thank you!)

So this past week, I've had this funny feeling. In the past, I have been completely neutral, but lately this little feeling has come along. I'm feeling that Baby Gunter is going to be a BOY. Don't get your hopes up, there is NO evidence of this! So don't go telling folks around town that Kendall's having a boy! Because I don't know. Danny seems to think so too. Of course we will be so happy with whatever the good Lord decides to bless us with!

I went to an event the other day in Greenwood, and of course you see everybody and their grandma anywhere you go in town. People were congratulating me and asking how I was feeling, etc. etc. And then....it happened.
Someone touched and rubbed my stomach. Oh my gosh, I was like "Just because there's a baby in there does NOT mean you can touch me!!" I didn't think I would react that way, but it totally freaked me out! I don't go around rubbing your tummy just because there's a cheeseburger or a pizza in there! Think about it next time! (And no, I didn't say that to that person out loud, I was just thinking it.)

I've spent my Saturday in Abbeville (working). There's so much going on here today. We've had our Real Estate Sip N See to try and get potential buyers to get into the vacant buildings and bring Abbeville some more business! There's been music on the square all day, an art exhibit and concert next door at Homemade Genius.
We've got it goin' on!!

But as you might have guessed, I'm ready to go home and take a nap! Probably won't happen. We are going to the in-laws to cookout and watch FOOTBALL!

Fall's Right Around the Corner

Saturday. I finally get a day where I have to do NOTHING. No work, no baseball, I'm choosing not to clean, no nothin'! So this is what I'd like to do today:
1.   Sit at the computer and pin my interests:)
2.   Go shopping for Fall decor, correction: window shopping b/c I'm broke.
3.   Watch my Gamecocks whoop up on Navy tonight.
4.   .....anddd GO TO BED!

So far, one of the up sides of the 1st trimester is the excuse that I'm tired and I get to go to bed! By no means I'm I lazy. I get a lot done during the day, everyday. But at night, isn't it nice to crash! Last night, I told the good Lord "thank you for my bed!".

Yesterday Baby Gunter was 7 weeks growing! His/her brain is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys is now in place.
So Fall is RIGHT around the corner, like less than a week! Eek! So excited. I have never been excited about Fall until this year after this unreal HOT sizzling summer we've had. I'm loving the Fall colors, pumpkins, Fall smells......and of course I've been getting decor ideas from Pintrest. Here's what's in store for the Gunter household...

Definitely a chalkboard painted pumpkin to count down the days until Halloween.

Perfectly painted "Trick or Treat" pumpkins, very much my style.

Light colored pumpkins to fill the coffee able in the living room.

And painted polka dot pumpkins!

I'll definitely be posting pics of mine when I'm done!

First Shopping Spree

This morning, Mama and I hit up the Cambridge Consignment Sale!! Whoo hoo!! The building was filled with tons of children's clothing, shoes, baby items, children's toys and MATERNITY! Luckily, we found the maternity room before anyone else. We ran our fingers through every piece, and found, well about $200 worth of clothes! Lots of super cute tops, a few dresses and come pants!

We also found HOOTER HIDERS!! These usually run about $35.00
but we bought 2 at $12.00 a piece. SCORE!
Aren't they cute?! I thought so too:)

AND...
a Peanut Shell & a Hotsling!
They were like $8.00, originally $39.00!

Ok, one more thing. I eye it everytime I go into The Alcove's in the Flights of Fancy booth...
Yea, how cute is that?! It's for Baby's neck when they are in the car seat! Precious!
Maison Chic Neck Pillow
5 bucks! Originally like $20 I think.

So we were pretty successful. Too bad we don't know the gender yet, they had some
GREAT deals on girls and boys clothes. There will be another this spring!

Another awesome thing that happened today...Petunia Pickle Bottom, a love in my life,
appeared on Zulily.com today:) :) :)
A few Cake items, but small clutches, not the diaper bag. Never heard of Petunia Pickle Bottom (PPB)? Well, you have really been missing out on the HOT things in life! I have dreamed of owning my own PPB for years now. It's not just a diaper bag, it's HEAVEN. See what you think...

Is this not the most gorgeous bag you have ever laid eyes on?
It's #1 on my Push Present Wish List. Sad part is, it's $335.00.
So maybe I should just look at it on my computer.

The Little Almond

Well Danny and I went for our first ultrasound yesterday. I know what you're thinking "Dang, a little early don't ya think?!" We thought so too, but Dr. Forrest (I love her) thought it would be fun and we could find out what Baby Gunter is measuring! So of course we jumped on board with that decision.

As of yesterday, I was (supposedly) 7 weeks and 2 days. But after the ultrasound, they measured the baby at 6 weeks and 3 days. So our NEW due date is....(Drum roll Please...) May 4th, 2012!! Now of course normally he or she will come within a week or two of this date. So that means...I'll be 18 weeks on December 2, three days before my birthday! Exciting! But what's even more exciting is the GENDER REVEAL PARTY!! Whooo HOOO!! And do I have plans for that event! Here's a sneak peek (and yes, it's from Pintrest.)
Everyone who knows me, knows that I LIVE for an awesome event (that I plan)! Finding out the gender of your baby is a BIG deal! I mean will it be Barbie's or Trucks? Shorts or Skirts? Bows or Caps? It's a BIG deal and it's gonna be a BIG event! So get excited!

Okay back to the ultrasound...we got pictures! Our little hunny bunny doesn't look like your typical baby yet, but bless it's heart,  he's/she's working hard on that! This week, Baby Gunter is growing like crazy! He's starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, and chin. Those little hands and feet -- still webbed like paddles -- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as mine!), and blood is starting to circulate.

He/she is the size of a pea this week!

And here he/she is!!
If you look close, the little dot in the middle is the HEART!!
We were able to hear and see the heartbeat! It was the coolest thing.
I can't wait to see our baby again!

I like to think of him/her as our little.....well almond:)

With all the wonderful, amazing, Godly things that are taking place, there is a rough side. Yes, you know...feeling like poo. Thank you Jesus, I haven't been sick, at all! I'm hoping it will never make its appearance.
But, I have been...
1. EXHAUSTED-to the point where I can hardly get my words out correctly. I get plenty of sleep and I get good sleep. I think I make it to R.E.M. everynight the second my head hits the pillow.

2. INDIGESTION-I get full so fast. I feel like I'm up to my eyeballs in food. I feel 8 months pregnant when I'm definitely not. And that feeling of nausea all the time.

3. I'M STARVING-no, like really starving, like I haven't eaten in MONTHS! DRAMA for your MAMA hungry! Then I begin to eat, and I go back to #2-Indigestion. Really? Pick one my already stubborn child! haha

Does anyone else feel like this?? Anyway, all for the little one. It'll be over before I know it.

Spilling the Beans

So on Wednesday, August 31, all three, yes THREE, home pregnancy tests were positive. Holy moly. "What now?!"
Number 1:    Confirm pregnancy by doctor
Number 2:    Spill the beans!

We had a ton of different ideas on how to surprise our parents. First of all, it had to be a SURPRISE because I am all about a good surprise. Second of all, it was agreed that they all had to be together, tell them at one time, to be fair.
This will be my parents' first spoiled rotten little one aka grandchild and this will be Danny's parents' fifth grandchild. No matter how many or less, it's all very exciting for them!

So, our first thought was GO BIG OR GO HOME, let's announce it at the Greenwood vs. Dorman game on the new replay screen! My brother is the star quarterback for the Eagles and we are all big fans!!

Go Eagles!
Needless to say, Danny was having no part of that, since that game was a whole week and a day away. He absolutely could not wait that long. (this is going to be a long pregnancy, bless him)

Plan B:   We were going to lie to get our parents to a local restaurant to eat dinner with us that Thursday night. I called my parents and said, "Pat and Steve want all of us to go to The Ranch tonight," while Danny called his parents and said, "Cindy and Randy want to invite all of us to go out to eat tonight." Danny's parents agreed, my mom had already made plans......figured! Really mom?! We were going to get 5 t-shirts made, and let the waiter hand them out to our parents. Excuse: "These are Ranch promo shirts."
T-shirt #1: "Don't"
T-shirt #2: "Drink"
T-shirt #3: "The"
T-shirt #4: "Water"
T-shirt #5: "Because Kendall did!!"
But since that didn't work out either, on to Plan C.

Plan C: (which by the way took ALL day Thursday and ALL of our brain activity!)   Somehow get our parents together and take a group picture. (Okay, this finally worked.) Danny took the picture and said, "On the count of three, everyone say KENDALL'S PREGNANT!!"
This was the result...

The picture is blurry because Danny was nervously shaking! Bless him. But the faces are priceless.
So on this day, Baby Gunter was the size of....an appleseed! That is so hard to imagine.

Blogging About Melons

Finally sucked in. Yes, I'm here, "blogging." What's the point of this anyway? Does it allow you to "write" down your thoughts and feelings from day-to-day or week-to-week like a online diary? I never had a diary as a child. I think I was too busy playing to sit and write. I did like to read others' though. Yes, you know you liked to do that too! We have always been stalkers. Now we classify them..."Facebook Stalkers," and now apparently "Blog Stalkers." Forget online diary, we read blogs to stalk people. They (people) are interesting. We are always wondering what someone else is doing and thinking! Don't lie, YOU do it too! I guess when you decide you want to write a blog, you think you are JUST as interesting! And we are! So here's mine....I think I'm going to talk about my awesome job (no, I'm serious), my great family that I could not do without, things I go through from day-to-day and....Hmmm, oh yes, the beginning of my Melon! "My what????" You heard right, my MELON! We are expecting!! Baby Gunter is due to make his or her arrival in late April 2012!! We are so excited!! (nervous, anxious, impatient, joyful, thankful, scared, & BROKE) But who isn't? We'll get through it. For now, YAY!!

Next post: How We Told Everyone! Stay tuned.
